Interview - Matt Bates
Q: How did you get into skateboarding?
A:
Around grade 9 my brother bought me my first pro board for my birthday. I was about 16 years old then.

Q: Where did you start skateboarding?
A:
In Caladonia. There was a small skatepark there.

Q: How did you learn about Evolushun?
A:
I first visited Evolushun to buy a skateboard and found out more about the park. It was the first Evolushun park back then and I wanted to get a job here so I was hired by the time they moved to the 2nd park. I'm now working here in the new Evolushun skatepark.

Q: Do you offer lessons to skateboarders?
A:
Yes.

Q: What do you think of the atmosphere at Evolushun?
A:
Its a family atmosphere here, there is of course some skaters who don't care about anyone else, but for the most park skateboarders help each other out and we are like a family here. It's all about having fun.

Q: What advice would you give inspiring skateboarders who are just starting out?
A:
Don't give up. If you get frustrated, it happens. Keep trying and you'll be able to succeed in just about any trick.
